My toast to the lassies

Last night was Burns night, a night to celebrate the birth of Robert burns, and before you quit reading, I'll explain who he was. Rabbie Burns -as he is called- was a scotish guy that wrote a bunch of poems some centuries ago, and is regarded nowadays as scotland's version of Shakespear. I do mean a scotish version because he was way more awesome than William. He wrote about the daily scotish life but using sentences like "Nine inches will please a woman". He was known to be a "womanizer" and a drunk, having many children with many different women along Scotland.

So now, every 25th of January, Scotland celebrates the birth of such a delightful writer, and they do celebrate it properly. Last night was my first Burns night, and thanks to Wendy and Frank (and also Smithy and Lindsay) I had a very very funny evening. I was lucky enough to make the toast to the lassies (ladies) and after that everybody shared a song, poem, verse, story or joke.. We did all of these stuff along with some of the finest scotch whiskeys, so the supper was absolutely perfect. I haven't had so much fun in years, it was simply brilliant.

Today, I regret the last glass of Isle of Jura whiskey, but I am still laughing about the way we danced to the traditional folk music. All in all, I had a perfect time........

I live you now with my toast to the lassies, which although not completely thought by myself (thanks to google), I manage to make it quite right I think.

WHA'S LIKE US?...DAMN FEW AND THEY'RE A DEED.....

Here is my Toast to the Lassies,
Listen carefully guys and girls
For these are truths that I do tell.

We are thrilled to have this wonderful meal
Especially when the lassies get dressed up as part of the deal.

Your beauty and style is second to none
And your partners sure hope your dresses will soon be undone.

They have showered and shaved and cleaned up quite right
in the hopes that you find them a tasty sight

For no man is whole without his bride
Roberto and I find ourselves without companion by our side.

I ask you please do not worry about this much
For tonight whiskey will be our match

I give you then, good friends and fair-
-To the Lassies! And their constant care
